Cook/Housekeeper

The person selected for this position will be responsible for preparing 2 snacks and a lunch daily, order food and cleaning supplies, as well as other custodial services necessary to maintain the facility in a hygienic, safe, and welcoming condition. This employee may be asked to help with the children if an emergency occurs. All work will be done under the direct supervision of the administrator and director. This is a part time, temporary position located in Redding, CA.
 
Requirements of the Cook/Housekeeper: 
  • Must be an experienced cook
  • Possess a knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition
  • Be able to prepare and serve snacks and lunch
  • Have a keen eye for housekeeping tasks
  • Have good time management skills, as well as have a positive attitude and a friendly demeanor
  • This person should have good personal cleanliness habits and should be sincerely interested in working with young children
  • Should understand the requirements for hygienic plant maintenance and housekeeping
  • Should have demonstrated ability to work consistently to make meals and snacks that are appealing to children
  • Candidate must pass FBI and Department of Justice Fingerprint Clearance
 
Benefits of the Cook/Housekeeper: 
$16.00 an hour
Part time, temporary, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-12:30pm
Mid-June through mid-August

Responsibilities of the Cook/Housekeeper: 
  • Plan, prepare, and serve two snacks and one lunch a day to children.
  • Prioritize all duties to ensure students are fed on time and all cleaning tasks are done. Use good judgment regarding time management.
  • Assure that adequate stock levels are available when needed, including providing assistance to teachers for food and cooking experiences they wish to plan for their class.
  • Identify areas that need to be cleaned and sanitized so that the school always looks clean and safe.
  • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs.
  • Clean & sanitize tables and floors after snacks and lunch.
  • Clean and disinfect student and staff bathrooms daily.
  • Perform, and initial when completed daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks on
  • Kitchen Cleaning List and Thorough Cleaning List.
  • Perform simple laundry tasks.
  • Help in providing transportation services in emergency situations.
  • Know and remain in compliance with Title 22 and other state regulations in regards to sanitation and food preparation.
  • Review prescribed menus for students with allergies first thing daily and prepares substitute food for the day.
  • Maintain records of substitute foods provided to students with allergies.
  • Represent the school in a positive manner.
  • Be cooperative, responsible, and dependable. Report to work on time as scheduled.
  • Any other assigned duties.
